Gian Lorenzo Bernini's genius and personality defined the century during which he lived. He was born in Naples in 1598 and his family moved to Rome in 1608.

His father, sculptor Pietro Bernini, built the Pauline Chapel in the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore for Pope Paul V. During this time the young Bernini began taking his first steps as an artist.

Shortly after he began working for Cardinal Scipione Borghese (there are several of his pieces in the Borghese Gallery, such as "Apollo and Daphne", "The Rape of Proserpina" and the "David"). However it is during Urban VIII's pontificate that Bernini will become the renowned artist we know him to be. Our tour will begin at Piazza del Popolo, where we will see the church of Santa Maria del Popolo; then we will move on to the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria where we will admire "The Ecstasy of St. Theresa" in the Cornaro Chapel. We will end in Piazza Barberini, where  Bernini's "Triton Fountain" is, and on our way there we will walk down Via della Propaganda Fide, not far from the artist's house. We will get to know Bernini the sculptor, Bernini the architect, and at the same time enjoy a walk among some of the most beautiful baroque works of art in Rome.

The visit include : church of Santa Maria del Popolo and Piazza del Popolo, church of Santa Maria della Vittoria and "The Ecstasy of St. Theresa" in the Cornaro Chapel, the Triton Fountain.
