Rome is connected by a network of public transportation that includes buses, trams and two subway lines. Bus tickets and subway tickets are the same and must be purchased in advance. They are available in every subway station, tobacco shop and newsstand, and there are also many ticket distributors next to the main bus stops. Tickets are rarely sold on the buses.
A standard BIT ticket costs 1 euro and is valid for 75 minutes on every bus and subway. It must be printed at the beginning of the trip. there are random ticket checks and if you are found without a ticket you will have to pay a 100 euro fine. Children under 10 years old do not need to purchase bus and subway tickets. |
